Live comedy picks: Michael Winslow, Mark Thomas and a Musical extra

 

We know that most people don’t like being kept in the dark, so with that in mind we thought we’d better shed some light on a gig this evening at The Underbelly on the Southbank. 

 

Comedy In The Dark will see Patrick Monahan, Arthur Smith, Marcel Lucont and Rich Fulcher spend an hour inside the Purple Cow, for more details visit The Underbelly website.

 

Further north, Old Rope continues to scoop up the other top talent in London on a Monday night, with Phil Nichol, Mark Thomas, Joey Page, Carly Smallman, Elis James, Rich Hall and Milton Jones on the bill. Tickets available here.

 

 

Ben Target and Liam Williams are heading to the Invisible Dot on Tuesday to polish off their respective Edinburgh shows before August arrives like a Fringe-shaped Armageddon. For more info visit The Invisible Dot website.

 

Tuesday also sees Scott Capurro head to the Vandella for a bit of P.A.R.T.Y. @MYMUMSHOUSE (that’s how they write it!). Alongside the promise of free cake, music and magic the party will be given that extra kick with help from Cherry White, Cariad Lloyd, Thomas Golding, Thomas Nelstrop, Luiza Omelian. We all know what Wednesday means don’t we? England are out of the Euro’s? No, it’s the 2-for-1 deal at the cinema silly. However if you want to catch up with some classics then head to the Southbank you could see Michael Winslow perform the most impressive Star Wars dubbing you’re ever likely to see. Alan Davies is on stage at the Pleasance this Thursday for the first of three dates at the Islington Theatre. The show is a work-in-progress but worth seeing in case he says something outlandish / illegal / anti-Liverpool on stage before anyone can stop him: tickets here.

 

 

We read in the Bible once that Friday night is Tom Stade Night, and never knew what it meant until this beauty of a gig turned up. Barry & Stuart have come a long way in recent years since we met them at Latitude’s Cabaret tent in 2008. They’re performing their latest conjuring tricks at the Bloomsbury which rumour has it includes a bit where vodka doubles magically halve in price (they don’t but you can dream) More info here.

 

Saturdays also sees Deansway’s host the second in a run of gigs by the Musical Comedy Awards, who take over the Bethnal Green club with their latest shows. What, you want more comedy? Ok, well rounding off the week is a treat – the loveable comedian Stuart Goldsmith is heading to The Pleasance for a pre-Edinburgh show.
