James Acaster spent a lot of the last Edinburgh Fringe helpung SSP cook a souffle, this year when it comes to Secret Edinburgh he's got another sweet tip up his sleeve with Fudge Kitchen.
My favourite place to pop into in Edinburgh is the Fudge Kitchen on the Royal Mile. They have free samples on the counter. I am a big fan of free samples as I expect anyone else is, if you’re not then I can’t imagine why.
They make the fudge in the shop and you can watch them do it. This is fascinating and makes you want to eat the fudge, and thanks to the free samples you can – straight away.
The staff are very friendly and will not only tell you about fudge but also display a genuine interest in how you are emotionally, which you don’t get just anywhere.
They wear green aprons and green is and always has been my favourite colour – hands down.
For the past couple of years the kitchen has also doubled up as a venue and they have had comedy shows on later in the day, I don’t know if they are doing it this year but if they are then performances are always a joy and have a different feel to anything else due to being in a fudge shop.
Did I already mention the free samples?
James Acaster is appearing at The Pleasance Courtyard at 8:15pm until August 26. For more information visit his Edinburgh Fringe listing here.
