Sara Pascoe 2014
Printer-friendly version

Four gigs. Four great nights. One special venue...

Such Small Portions is very proud to bring four of the most exciting shows around to the awesome Vault Festival underneath Waterloo Station.

We've got the current fantastic shows for Sara Pascoe and Max and Ivan, a first chance to see the new show from Luisa Omielan, and an awesome power hour from Mae Martin and Jay Foreman

The festival

The Vault Festival brings the tunnels off Leake Street to life for six weeks from 28 January, so check out the website and pick up your tickets for the following four shows! It really is just about the coolest festival in London, and our shows are the perfect way to get down there, have a few drinks and take in a show. Everyone from the Sunday Times to the New York Times has already written about this year's Vault, and here's what the press said about the last event...

"Amazing" Time Out London, who have also already recommended three of our shows (details below!)

"A panoply of alternative arts delights" Guardian Guide

"Alice's rabbit hole wasn't nearly as prolific as this...a heady brew of the sweetly inventive and brazenly original" Metro

"When something as entertaining as VAULT comes along, YOU should be there" Shortlist

"Whatever your artistic interests the programme seeks to meet them" Telegraph

"Undoubtably one of the coolest venues in London...a dazzling array of productions to get your teeth into" The Londonist

The following gigs are London Is Funny recommended too - where we also wrote a piece explaining why we chose the acts...

Sara Pascoe Vs The Truth

January 30, 9pm

Nothing in life is certain. Everything we believe is subjective. Evidence can be manipulated by predispositions and prejudices. You could just be a brain in a lab being stimulated by electrical impulses? Or, if each cell in your body is replaced over time, maybe you are not even you anymore, like the Sugababes?

Sara has starred on BBC’s Twenty Twelve, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Live at the Apollo, C4’s Stand Up for the Week and Live at the Comedy Store on Comedy Central. Despite all this, she cannot be absolutely sure that she exists.

We had a chat with Sara ahead of the gigs, which you can find here. Also, here's that utterly normal time that Sara interviewed herself for us.

Luisa Omielan - Am I Right Ladies?!

February 6, 9.30pm

A work in progress for Luisa Omielan’s second show. After the whirlwind success of her debut stand up 'What Would Beyonce Do?! This is the follow up! Is there pressure? Yeah, pressure to PARTY!!

Mae Martin and Jay Foreman

February 13, 9.15pm

Time Out recommended!

A power hour with the best musical comedians in the business.

Mae Martin
After a stellar year (Russell Howard's Good News, BBC Radio 4), Canadian Mae Martin gleefully reliving the traumas of her melodramatic adolescence. "She had the audience in the palm of her hands" Three Weeks

Jay Forman
Fresh from supporting Dave Gorman’s UK and Ireland tour, expect masterfully crafted songs, poems, hilariously melancholy viewpoint and description-defying musical wizardry that has earned him multiple awards and made him BBC’s New Talent Pick of The Fringe.  "Great comedy underscored by real musical talent" Broadway Baby

Max and Ivan: The Reunion

February 20, 9.30pm

Class of 2003, assemble! Fresh from a critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe - with a Fosters Comedy Award nomination for Best Show - and a recent sold-out run at London’s Soho Theatre, Max and Ivan (Radio 4, BBC3) spin a bewitching narrative sketch comedy tale of love, loss and shatterproof rulers. Directed by Tom Parry (Pappy's).

Here's a chat we had with M&I about the show in October.
