It was the film which spawned a plethora of handle-bar moustaches at fancy dress parties both in the UK and U.S, however the chances that an Anchorman sequel could be made have been given a boost
after one of the original cast revealed that he would love to be part of a sequel.
Speaking to Metro, Steve Carell, who plays Brick Tamland in the original Anchorman series, revealed that he would love to appear in the sequel Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.
“The enduring popularity of Anchorman really does surprise me, especially in Britain,” Carell said
“Whenever I come here, after talking about The Office and Ricky Gervais, that’s the next subject people want to discuss. I find it astounding.”
“It was certainly one of the most fun things I was ever involved in. I talked to Will recently about a sequel. I would love to do it again.”
It was revealed last month that the Anchorman sequel was being put on hold because it had been too difficult to bring the original cast back together.
In March Will Ferrell, who plays Ron Burgundy in the film, told U.S. sources: "I thought we were doing it. I was told it was happening and now I've heard it's going to be too hard to get everyone together," said Ferrell. "Hopefully the director Adam McKay will be able to talk to all the guys individually and see if we can figure it out."
"We don't think we can make it as good. It would be really fun to do, so we might just try to make the craziest sequel you've ever seen. It could be terrible, but if they're going to pay us to do it, then why not, right?"
