A lot of exciting new projects today, for Joe Cornish, Frankie Boyle, Vic and Bob and quite a lot of others...

• Frankie Boyle is back on Channel Four, after landing a showcase as part of the channel's Funny Fortnight. Vic and Bob, Arthur Matthews, Harry Hill and Peter Kay have also landed slots. We'll be rummaging through the shows' prospects later... Digital Spy UK

• Joe Cornish is going to Hollywood, writing and directing seminal cyberpunk book Snow Crash. Apparently it's about 'a computer hacker/samurai swordsman/pizza delivery driver who investigates and tries to stop the takeover of postmodern civilization', which, yes, does sound very Joe Cornish. SSP

• Dead Boss started with half a million viewers, thank goodness. Broadcast

• Cabaret gets its own award at the Edinburgh Fringe. STV

• The Comic Strip are coming back again after the success of the Tony Blair thingy, but this time on Gold/GOLD/G.O.L.D./etc . It'll be one of the Famous Five spoofs again. Chortle 

• Continuing the frickety-huge push of the act, E4's doing a live promo to launch Midnight Beast. Comedy.co.uk 

• Lock up, well, all females: Russell Kane is after ALL WOMEN in Edinburgh this Fringe. Daily Record
