Ricky Gervais Show, Life's Too Short and An Idiot Abroad to end

The Ricky Gervais Show, Life's Too Short and An Idiot Abroad are all ending, Ricky Gervais has written on the Huffington Post.

A finale special for BBC/HBO co-production Life's Too Short will be broadcast around Easter, Gervais said. “It's got lots and lots of Les, Shaun and Cheggars!” he added.

There are two specials for Sky's An Idiot Abroad, featuring Warwick Davis joining Karl Pilkington on his travels, but after them the programme will end.

While the Ricky Gervais Show stretched to three full series with HBO, shown on Channel 4 in the UK, An Idiot Abroad helped kick start Sky's reputation for comedy.

Gervais has instead committed to Derek, which despite receiving a lukewarm critical reaction for its pilot on Channel 4 earlier this year, will get six episodes for next year.

“This is my new baby, I must admit,” he wrote. “I've never been so in love with a project or character. It will be on Channel 4 in the UK and I'll be announcing other channels in each territory as they are finalised.”
