Advertise for ASDA? Victoria would.
Victoria Wood is to put her Dinnerladies training into practice behind the counter in a new ad campaign for supermarket giants ASDA.
The fly-on-the-wall style ads will feature Wood 'working' in the shop's bakery, but an ASDA representative stressed that Wood is not the 'new face' of the Walmart-owned chain. "We've been pretty clear of late that we won't be finding a celebrity to tell our customers what they should buy - we think that's patronising," say ASDA.
"We're going to get a series of well-known people that stand for a common sense, no-nonsense approach just like us and let them experience the real ASDA by working with us."
It's a change of direction for ASDA, whose ads have featured former 'mum of the year' Sharon Osborne and WAG Coleen McCloughin, who fronted their campaign for clothing line George. Obviously, they're just not as 'real' as Wood.
