Connolly Named Top Stand-Up
Big Yin in at one
Billy Connolly was crowned the greatest stand-up of all time by Channel 4 viewers in another top 100 countdown last night.
Over 150,000 people voted on the station’s website to prove once and for all that Connolly was a bit funnier than Peter Kay (number 2) and much funnier than Tim Vine (number 100).
Far bigger surprises came with the quality of the archive footage included in the 4-hour countdown and the fact that Jimmy Carr wasn’t presenting. It seems Channel 4 have finally got the hang of the list show format. God knows they’ve had enough practice. Top 100 TV ads anyone?
