Manc marketer Jon Morgan steps up to make more money for the Fringe
Edinburgh Festival Fringe has announced Jon Morgan, currently executive producer of Contact Theatre in Manchester, as its new director.
Morgan will replace current incumbent Paul Gudgin when he steps down in June after more than seven years in the job. Morgan told The Scotsman that he hopes to take Fringe acts on tours of Scotland to boost "access" to the Festival.
He also told the paper, "I think the Fringe can be more active in making sure there's a good mix of artists appearing. We can be more pro-active. For instance, you could get more dance and maybe more family shows as well."
Whether Morgan's wider audience will find Reginald D Hunter's alleged anti-Semitism or Tim Minchin's racist misogyny funny, we'll just have to wait and see.
