"I expect to be back next time there's a bug going round," says long-serving presenter
Larger-than-life muso Phill Jupitus is leaving his 6 Music morning radio show to concentrate on acting and stand-up.
The jocular Never Mind The Buzzcocks star's 7am slot was the flagship show of the BBC station, with Jupitus was known as the "face of 6 Music". His spacious shoes will be filled by evening DJ Shaun Keaveny, described by 6 Music controller Lesley Douglas as "one of those rare broadcasting talents who is appointment listening".
With most breakfast shows aping the knockabout style of Radio 1's resident loudmouth Chris Moyles, Jupitus's departure leaves few options for those seeking a morning show that won't put them off their cereal.
