Madeley Slams Gervais at British Book Awards
TV presenter his usual calm and considered self
People’s crusader Richard Madeley unleashed a tirade of potty-mouthed abuse at Extras star Ricky Gervais last night, after the comedian made a quip about the TV presenter’s involvement in a recent phone vote scandal.
Madeley, who was in the middle of presenting the British Book Awards with wife Judy Finnigan, described Gervais as "a fucking ungrateful bastard" after the pug-nosed one poked fun at the controversy surrounding the couple.
Gervais, who scooped the Children’s Book of the Year Award for Flanimals of the Deep, angered Madeley during his acceptance speech by saying: "This is voted for by the public, isn't it? Well, tell them to stop voting now, because otherwise it will be another phone con!"
Watch today’s Richard and Judy (5pm, Channel 4) when the special guest will be, wait for it, Ricky Gervais! Humble pie anyone?
