Another roaring success for cuddly comic?
Grandmas’ favourite Peter Kay has talked of his hopes to be remembered as one of the greats… of children’s television.
The one-time stand up is not content with writing a best selling book, topping the singles chart and starring in The Producers and has lent his voice to the new Five kids’ show Roary the Racing Car.
"I love the idea that if something is a success, your voice is preserved for decades. Think of Arthur Lowe doing Mr Men or Michael Hordren doing Paddington Bear or Bernard Cribbins doing The Wombles or Neil Morrissey doing Bob the Builder [really Peter?] or Ringo Starr doing Thomas the Tank Engine," a characteristically nostalgic Kay told The Telegraph, using more ‘or’s than a Viking long boat.
Those that want to see Kay’s attempts to succeed where Gary Lineker failed can catch Roary the Racing Car on Five at 7.15am every weekday.
