The Stand Comedy Club Survey
Cheap, foreign and commando?
You’re 33, you’re single and you don’t really care who’s on the bill as long as you’re spending less than £50 on going out during any given week.
You’re the average comedy fan according to a survey carried out by staff at Edinburgh’s The Stand Club.
The survey, which incorporated results from 1200 customers over a six week period, also found that more than half of the club’s customers were from outside of the city with one in eight punters hailing from countries outside the UK.
In the same report the club took the unusual step of publishing information on the number of underpants abandoned in the toilets (7). As one wag on The Scotsman message board remarked "Is that from people pissing themselves laughing?"
The rest of the results were more predictable and showed that, while we may be aging, lonely and cheap, at least we still love a good laugh…don’t we?
