Spoof Quiz Show Tour Axed by 'Bloody Stingy' BBC

I'm sorry, but the BBC hasn't a clue

Stars from Radio 4 favourite I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue have been banned from touring independently by the BBC. Tim Brooke-Taylor, Barry Cryer and Humphrey Lyttelton wanted to cash in on the popularity of segments like the fabled 'Mornington Crescent' by performing live around the UK.

But the BBC ruled they could not use the show's brand without permission, saying that the title is "part of the Corporation copyright."

Cryer called the Beeb "bloody stingy". "We have been with the show for so long, it would be nice to get some financial benefit for it all," he said in a recent statement to The Daily Mail.

The fracas comes at a time when BBC staff plan to strike over pay disputes. The BBC say they intend to "reduce expenditure and improve quality across all departments". Whether that includes cutting resident fat man Chris Moyles' £630,000 salary or Newsnight terrier Jeremy Paxman's £1million pay packet remains to be seen.
