Eric Idle Resurrects Life of Brian for Stage Musical
Second coming for Jesus-mocking comedy classic
Budding Lloyd-Webber Eric Idle has announced he is to follow his award-winning show Spamalot with a musical adaptation of Monty Python's Life of Brian.
The show, Not The Messiah (He's a Very Naughty Boy), reportedly takes elements from Handel's Messiah, and will premiere in at the Luminato Theatre in Toronto this June. The show will see Idle reunite with composer John DuPrez, co-writer of Spamalot.
One problem facing Idle is that he has already used the film's centrepiece song, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, in Spamalot. But these days he does not appear averse to re-hashing old material.
