Brit-com golden boy will dish out tips at London comedy conference
The Office co-creator Stephen Merchant is to be interviewed at the first Broadcast TV Comedy Conference at the Soho Theatre on 23 March.
The one-day forum is aimed at comedy writers who struggle between realising their own vision and placating studio bigwigs. Organisers hope to provoke discussion among writers and producers about what makes a British comedy both popular and critically acclaimed.
Workshops on TV writing, career development and viewer loyalty will be chaired by heads of comedy from all five terrestrial TV channels.
The only thing to deter the aspiring comic from this event is the £468 price tag. Maybe you could ask Merchant for a loan - he can't be short of a bob or two.
