Wednesday 10 August

Jay Foreman has talked about his favourite place to check out the sites of Edinburgh and it's not Arthur's Seat - check out his Secret Edinburgh blog post here.

SSP also found time to check out Tony Law in Go Mr Tony Go! If you haven't seen him before it's well worth checking him out. Read the review of Go Mr Tony Go! here.

Tuesday 9 August

Comedy cooking maestro Jeff Leach took time out to give us his thoughts on his own Secret Edinburgh , a heady walk down the Royal Mile which Leach has renamed The Gauntlet of Broken Dreams. Read all about it here!

Monday 8 August

Apart from checking the 24-hour rolling news coverage, we managed  to sneak out a couple of reviews. We checked out the promising, but ultimately disappointing sketch act Sheeps, A Sketch Show,  as well as checking out Josie Long's political-style show The Future Is Another Place - which was well worth seeing.

And then, well back to the rolling news to be honest.

Sunday 7 August

SSP managed to catch the new offering by Glenn Wool last night, with a review up here. Wool's back in the UK after a two-year break from the Fringe. Most of that time seems to have been taken up battling customs control.

We also managed  to catch Gemma Goggin's late night show where Kate Copstick stole the show, never seen such a blunt conversation about sex, was incredibly funny. Read the news piece here.

Meanwhile Garlath Regan speaks to Andrew Mickel about being known as the nice guy too often, read more about that here

aturday 6 August

Second day of the weekend and Michael Legge has revealed on radio that he's staying at Ian Rankin's house.

Max & Ivan have released a promo video for their forthcoming mega show The Wrestling, which is set to be one of the highlights of the Fringe this year. Check the video out here!

On SSP we've found out where Howard Read indulges a bite to eat with Secret Edinburgh, while Matt Green gets distracted, a lot, by the modern world. Read his interview with Andrew Mickel here.

Friday 5 August

Phill Jupitus, who is appearing at The Stand, has appeared on BBC 6 Music to talk about the Fringe, here's a few of the things that he said: "It's a bit like glastonbiury, don;t fret about what you can't see, enjoy what you do see.

"Without the Fringe, Edinburgh is one of the most engaging shows in the world, the place would be rammed in August even if it wasn't full of very needy comedians. There's an arts festival, a television festival, and they hothouse it into that month in August. Mates who have come up to stay with me compare it to their first time in New York."

Thursday 4 August

We've been wearing the typewriter raw with our interviews including...

Kerry Godliman explains what it's like to be a wonder woman at the Fringe this year. Read the interview here...

Tom Allen has been hunting down the ex-cast of Neighbours (or hoping to) for his own Afternoon Tea show...

And Matt Kirshen has decided to hell with being embarrassed, and taken things into his own hands for this year's show. Read his interview with Andrew Mickel here...

Of course there's a whole host of other features, reviews and interviews to wing their way to SSP's pages throughout the month. Bookmark this page and check when the new stuff appears.

Edinburgh: It is of course, the world's biggest arts festival. The superlatives can be left outside, lest they hurt someone with the sheer facts on offer. Over 20,000 performers, 1200-odd shows, 100,000 pies, all that and more.

Of course SSP is up for a fourth year running at the Edinburgh Fringe, and this year we're changing tack, introducing a new feature - the Comedy Cook-off - which has been produced in conjunction with ComComedy and is set to see none other than James Acaster, Jeff Leach, Rayguns look real enough, Horse & Louis and Naz Osmanoglu vie for the title of Comedy Cook 2011. Expect to see the first episode ready to go live on Monday.

We've also invested in an emergency poncho as the weather predicts that we're definitely going to need it.
