Ugly Betty star America Ferrera is said to be in denial over the cancellation of Ugly Betty.
The show is due to come to an end at the end of its current series after a four-year run and Ferrera, who has played the character since she was 21, told U.S. magazine Parade of her connection to the part.
“I’ve lived with this character who I’ve loved from day one and I have only grown to feel more connected to her and also responsible for making sure her journey is a complete one.”
“Her entire journey was about a transformation, kind of coming into her womanhood and owning herself both physically and emotionally”.
Ugly Betty was cancelled by ABC following a poor run of ratings. The final series, which is due to be aired in the UK later this year, is rumoured to feature a wedding.
“It’s hard to say goodbye. I haven’t really started going there yet because I still have four episodes to shoot.
“So I’m staying in denial for now and I’ll deal with all those emotions in a little bit. I imagine that when we finally wrap it’s not going to be a dry-eyed goodbye” Fererra added.
