Sandra Bullock prick up your ears, Quentin Tarantino has indicated that he harbours plans to make a romantic comedy.
The director, whose film Inglorious Basterds won a best supporting actor (Christoph Waltz) Oscar at the Academy Awards last weekend, has said that he would like to free the genre from the ‘Ghetto its been exiled to’.
In an interview with Film.com Tarantino said: “I'd love to make a romantic comedy and take it out of the ghetto it's been exiled to. I have done love stories; they've just been in my other movies,"
Though to many the idea of a Tarantino rom-com is about as far from the Kill Bill or Reservoir Dogs as you can get, the director insists that he is able to ditch the gritty violence conjure up a love story when he can.
"I have done love stories; they've just been in my other movies," Tarantino pointed out.
"True Romance's title was not ironic. Sure, James Gandolfini almost beats Patricia Arquette to death and she has to blow him away with a shotgun, but that doesn't mean it's not romantic. It just has to be done my way, and I think people want me to do it my way."
The director also revealed plans for a prequel to Inglourious Basterds: "At a certain point, there's a third Kill Bill movie. A prequel to Inglourious Basterds. And sooner or later I'll make another gangster film," he added.
