Sky 1 has commissioned a new sitcom starring Sally Phillips and Tom Conti as part of its summer comedy offerings.
Parents will follow Phillips and her husband, played by Phone Shop's Darren Strange, as a married couple who are forced to move in with their parents, played by Conti and Susie Blake.
Sky1's Head of Comedy Lucy Lumsden commented: “We’ve been on the hunt for smart comedies about family life for Sky 1 HD and feel we have found it with Parents. We’re very excited about the cast we’ve managed to attract and can’t wait to start production.”
Chris O'Dowd has also landed a series of Moone Boy, based on his episode of seasonal Sky 1 show Little Crackers. Set in eighties Ireland, the show follows a young boy and his imaginary friend.
Other new shows include Starlings, with Steve Coogan and Matt King, about an old man moving in to his family's house after an incident at his retirement home.
Gates, is a new comedy set at school gates starring Sue Johnston, Tom Ellis and Joanna Page, while a new camera show, the Hidden Camera Family, will also air.
Returning shows include second seasons for Spy, which landed Darren Boyd a best actor award at the British Comedy Awards, Jane Horrocks' supermarket sitcom Trollied, and comedy drama Mount Pleasant.
